Alaska Center for the Performing Arts
Leading the 30th-anniversary rebranding initiative, website modernization, and creative direction for Alaska's premier performing arts venue.
Modernized ACPA Visual Identity System
The Challenge
Approaching its 30th anniversary, the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts (ACPA) required a comprehensive modernization of its visual identity and digital infrastructure. The existing brand had served the institution well for decades but lacked the flexibility required for modern digital ticketing, mobile web environments, and contemporary arts marketing. Additionally, the venue's online presence needed a complete architectural overhaul to better serve patrons, resident companies, and touring productions.
The Approach
As the Creative Services Manager, I directed a multi-faceted approach to modernize the institution from the inside out:
- 30th Anniversary Rebrand: Developed a fresh, scalable visual identity system that honored the building's iconic architecture while pushing the brand into a digital-first future.
- Web Modernization: Directed the redesign and re-platforming of the ACPA website, focusing on mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and streamlined ticketing integrations.
- System Operations: Managed and modernized the internal event database systems, ensuring that marketing assets flowed seamlessly from booking to public announcement.
- Creative Direction: Overhauled the seasonal marketing materials, creating cohesive campaigns for the venue's diverse programming array.
The Result
The 30th-anniversary launch successfully repositioned the ACPA for its next era. The modernized website dramatically improved the user journey from show discovery to ticket purchase. The new visual identity provided external promoters and resident companies with a strong, unified graphic standard that elevated the perceived value of every event hosted in the state's most prestigious venue.
