Case Study — Wilderness Brand Identity & Web
Wildman Lodge Alaska
Brand Package & WordPress Site
A complete brand identity system and WordPress website for a premier Alaskan wilderness lodge — built around one of the most memorable logo marks in the portfolio.
Primary Logo Mark — Trademarked
The Client
Wildman Lodge Alaska is a premier remote wilderness lodge offering guided fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventure experiences in Alaska's rugged backcountry. The lodge caters to discerning guests seeking an authentic, high-end Alaskan experience — from world-class salmon fishing on pristine rivers to big-game hunting guided by expert outfitters.
The Challenge
A remote lodge of this caliber needed a brand identity as powerful and memorable as the Alaska wilderness it calls home. The goal was to create a visual system that communicates the duality at the heart of the Wildman Lodge experience — the raw power of Alaska's wildlife paired with the refinement of a premium guided lodge. The brand needed to stand on its own in print, on merchandise, and on the web without relying on photography.
The Mark
The centerpiece of the identity is a dual-silhouette logo mark — a Pacific salmon in profile, with a full-rack moose head hidden within its body using negative space. Both animals are iconic to Alaska, and both are central to the Wildman Lodge experience. The mark is instantly recognizable, works at any scale from a hat pin to a billboard, and is trademarked.
The wordmark pairs "WILDMAN LODGE" in a refined, wide-set serif — evoking the heritage of classic hunting lodges and national park signage — with "A L A S K A" letter-spaced below in caps, grounding the identity in place. The system is rendered in pure black on white for maximum versatility across all brand applications.
Dual Wildlife Mark
The negative space technique used in the Wildman Lodge mark puts both Alaska's most iconic fish and its most iconic land mammal into a single, unified image. The salmon is the outer shape; the moose emerges from within.
This approach is rare, sophisticated, and immediately conveys the two pillars of the lodge's guiding program — fishing and hunting — without a single word of copy.
The Brand Package
Beyond the primary logo, the brand package delivered a complete identity system for Wildman Lodge:
- → Primary logo — full lockup with salmon/moose mark and wordmark
- → Icon-only mark — standalone salmon/moose silhouette for apparel, hats, and patches
- → Wordmark-only version — for letterhead and contexts where the mark reads too small
- → Color system — black, white, and designated accent palette
- → Typography guide — primary and secondary typefaces, usage rules
- → Usage guidelines — minimum sizes, clear space, do/don't examples
The WordPress Website
The brand identity was brought to life on a custom WordPress site designed to convert visiting hunters and anglers into lodging bookings. The site communicates the exclusivity and adventure of the Wildman Lodge experience through rich imagery, clear service descriptions, and a booking inquiry flow designed for high-intent guests.
The design extended the lodge's visual identity into the digital space — using the brand's black-and-white typographic system as structural anchors while giving full-bleed Alaska photography the room to breathe and sell the experience. Navigation was designed for simplicity: guests arrive, see the wilderness, and find a clear path to inquiry without friction.
The Result
Wildman Lodge Alaska launched with a brand identity strong enough to stand alongside the most premium outdoor lodge brands in North America. The trademarked logo mark has appeared on signage, hats, patches, waders, and printed materials — all holding together under one cohesive system. The WordPress site gave the lodge a professional digital home that matched the quality of the experience it promises, driving booking inquiries for guided fishing and hunting seasons.
