Fire Island Wind 10-Year Anniversary

The Project

Located on a pristine island just off the coast of Anchorage, the Fire Island Wind project represents a significant milestone in Alaska's renewable energy infrastructure. Approaching its 10-year operational anniversary, Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) sought to document the history, construction, and ongoing legacy of this vital commercial wind farm.

The Execution

As Producer, Director, Cinematographer, and Editor for this anniversary project, I oversaw the entire production lifecycle:

• Archival Integration: Sourced and integrated historical construction footage, demonstrating the massive logistical effort required to build wind turbines on a remote Alaskan island without ferry access.
• On-Site Cinematography: Captured high-resolution drone footage and ground-level cinematography of the 11 active turbines in operation against the dramatic backdrop of the Cook Inlet.
• Narrative Development: Conducted interviews with key stakeholders, engineers, and executives to weave a cohesive story about the project's inception, challenges, and success.
• Post-Production: Handled all editing, color grading, and audio mastering to deliver a polished, broadcast-ready mini-documentary.

The Impact

The completed film served as the centerpiece for the 10th-anniversary communications campaign. It not only celebrated the engineering feat but also reinforced CIRI's commitment to sustainable energy development in Alaska. The project assets were subsequently utilized across web platforms, annual reports, and shareholder presentations, extending the life and reach of the documentary work.
